Maria Sharapova Wears Gabriela Hearst for Tennis Hall of Fame Event

Maria Sharapova aced her custom Gabriela Hearst look for the class of 2025 induction at the International Tennis Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday in Newport, R.I.

The five-time Grand Slam champion wore a custom ivory silk crepe back satin Brigita slipdress, courtesy of the Uruguayan women’s luxury ready-to-wear and accessories designer. Sharapova coordinated the slipdress with a silk duchesse organic wave fil coupé fur Hillman cape.

The look was further coordinated with a pair of Edwina pumps in ivory leather with rose gold detail from the designer. She accessorized with the Soft Demi Clutch with a chain in ivory leather, completing her ethereal monochrome look.

Since her retirement from professional tennis in 2020, Sharapova’s maintained a strong relationship with the Women’s Tennis Association. In March, the former athlete spoke with WWD about the partnership between the WTA and UNICEF, an initiative that aims to close the women’s health gap through better health and nutrition resources for women and children worldwide.

“In speaking with the WTA Foundation alongside UNICEF, understanding and realizing that not so many women around the world have access to those basic necessities really inspired me to get behind this,” Sharapova told WWD.

“I think, as you go through life and you go through different chapters of it, you start recognizing, especially as a woman, the importance of health as you start raising a family and understanding the simple components of what’s needed in one’s daily basic health necessities,” the entrepreneur and businesswoman said.

Sharapova was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame alongside former doubles players and 16-time Grand Slam champions Bob and Mike Bryan. Serena Williams made a surprise appearance and introduced Sharapova at the event, speaking about the two former athletes’ rivalry and Sharapova’s career at the induction ceremony.
