Cara Delevingne Marks Topshop’s London Return in Ruched Clover Loafers

Cara Delevingne tied Topshop’s long-awaited runway comeback to one of the year’s most resurgent shoe categories. The model and actress attended the brand’s fall 2025 show in Trafalgar Square in London on Saturday wearing Topshop’s Clover loafers, a frequently sold-out style that has quietly become a sleeper hit.

The silhouette, available for $149 on ASOS, is cut from premium black leather with subtle ruching along the apron and a squared-off toe. A low stacked heel and soft leather upper gave the shoe a lived-in profile that balanced utility with ease. For Delevingne, the loafers peeked out beneath burgundy corduroy trousers and a matching leather jacket, layered over a black top for a tonal look aligned with the collection’s high-street grit.

For Topshop, the loafer’s reemergence doubled as a reset. The show was its first in seven years, staged in the open air to telegraph accessibility under new Heartland ownership. Where the label once chased hyper-trend cycles, its relaunch leaned into something more pragmatic: a loafer that feels wearable and in lockstep with the broader market swing back to pared-down classics.

That swing has been hard to miss. Doechii put Miu Miu’s brushed leather penny loafers on the Outside Lands stage with ribbed logo socks earlier this month. Dr. Martens, meanwhile, spotlighted its Adrian tassel loafer in a new Arcadia leather finish for its latest campaign with Nailea Devora, skewing darker and more academic. Even Cannes saw Barbara Palvin pairing Miu Miu loafers with tailored shorts — evidence that the silhouette has pushed well past campus corridors.

Against that backdrop, the Clover’s ruched vamp gave it a subtle wrinkle in a crowded lane. It’s not the glossiest, nor the most branded, but its frequent sold-out status says plenty about where consumer appetites are landing: classic, but not anonymous.

Delevingne’s choice didn’t just tether the moment back to Topshop — it sharpened the point of the whole comeback. Loafers may be 2025’s safest bet, but in the right hands (or feet), they can still carry the thrill of a revival.
