Silvana Estrada returned this year with the new songs “Como un Pájaro” and “Lila Alelí.” She’s now announced that those songs will be on a new album called Vendrán Suaves Lluvias. The Mexican singer-songwriter’s follow-up to 2022’s Marchita is out October 17 via Glassnote. Below, listen to another new song from the album, “Dime.”
“Vendrán Suaves Lluvias is the album I’ve been working on for the past two or three years,” Estrada stated of her new album. “The songs were born little by little, some since the pandemic, others more recently. It encompasses my search to find myself and my vital energy. This project was born from trying to turn discomfort into hope, from not stopping to see the light despite the rage.”
Estrada wrote and produced Vendrán Suaves Lluvias and recorded it in Montreal, Barcelona, and Mexico City. The new album’s title comes from “There Will Come Soft Rains,” a poem that Sara Teasdale wrote amid World War I and the 1918 flu pandemic.
