Hours before she takes the court at the WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis, Angel Reese is generating buzz with a new release — the ‘MeBounds’ colorway of her Angel Reese 1 signature shoe.
The moniker references the phrase that began circulating among Reese’s critics on social media earlier this season. It implied that the baller was inflating her rebound stats by rebounding her own missed balls at the net. (Reese currently holds key WNBA records, including the most consecutive double-doubles and fastest to 600 points and 600 rebounds.)
True to form, Reese has turned adversity into awareness — and a commercial proposition. She took to instagram on Saturday to tease the colorway, a bold and bright pink hue. “All mine. Not yours (yet),” she said of the shoe.
In June, Reese unveiled a MeBounds clothing collection with the aim of raising awareness and funding for cyberbullying prevention.
This month, Reese — who took home FN’s 2024 Style Influencer of the Year Award at the FNAAs — debuted her signature shoe in another colorway called “Diamond Dust,” which showcases iridescent hues.
Prior to her first signature shoe with the athletic brand, Reese rolled out the Angel Reese x Reebok Engine A, a basketball-ready shoe, which was released in June in a pink and burgundy colorway. They have also collaborated on prior shoe and clothing collections.
