From Innovation to Imitation – UAE Government Selling Pirated Drone Tech – sUAS News

A Czech technology company Dronetag specializing in global drone identification solutions is raising serious concerns about business practices in the United Arab Emirates after discovering that a copied version of its hardware is being promoted on the official website of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA).

Despite multiple attempts to engage with DCAA through our legal representatives, including an official complaint detailing clear violations, the authority has remained uncommunicative and uncooperative. This ongoing silence leaves us with no option but to bring the matter to public attention.

“It seems that in the Emirates, copying products takes priority over respecting intellectual property rights and fair business practices,” said Lukáš Brchl, Founder & CEO of Dronetag. “We reached out through the proper channels, expecting a professional dialogue, but we were met with silence.”

Evidence of Intellectual Property Violation

Our original letter to the DCAA, sent through our legal counsel, outlined several critical concerns regarding their handling of this matter, including:

 The unauthorized promotion of a copied product on an official government platform.
 A failure to enforce fair market regulations and respect intellectual property rights.
 A complete lack of response from DCAA despite multiple attempts at resolution.

The link to the DCAA’s official website, where the copied product is actively promoted, clearly illustrates the seriousness of the situation: DCAA SpotMe

You can find further evidence of the violation in this link.

As a market leader in drone identification solutions, Dronetag has gained significant traction in the U.S. and worldwide, with our products being the best-selling in the industry. Dronetag has been accepted into a NATO-led accelerator and receives strong support from key stakeholders in the drone industry, including the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The company consistently delivers innovative, high-quality solutions and stands firmly against practices that compromise its work or the integrity of the global drone ecosystem.

If this public appeal does not lead to proper communication and action from DCAA, Dronetag is prepared to escalate this matter through further legal avenues, both within the UAE and internationally, to protect their intellectual property and business integrity.

A Wake-Up Call for the Drone Tech Community

This issue goes far beyond Dronetag. It raises serious concerns for the entire drone industry, especially for startups and innovators working hard to bring innovative solutions to market. The fact that a national aviation authority can promote a copycat product and then ignore multiple attempts at dialogue should alarm everyone who values fair competition, IP protection, and responsible governance in emerging tech
sectors.

This is not just a Czech company’s fight. It’s a wake-up call for the global tech community. If even state regulators can steal and ignore complaints, who is safe?
