Ingrid Lindblad has first LPGA victory at JM Eagle LA Championship

The LPGA Tour’s major season begins this week with the Chevron Championship in Houston, but they were in action out in Los Angeles the week prior to get the party started.

As the week unfolded it looked like things were going to go rather chalk with world number one Nelly Korda well in the mix and Minjee Lee appearing like the favorite. Golf is played over the course of four rounds though so that the cream can rise to the top and it was Ingrid Lindblad who won the JM Eagle LA Championship.

Lindblad, who many golf fans have gotten to know over the years by way of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, finished sixth in the Epson Tour last year to qualify for the LPGA Tour. It did not take her long to secure her first career victory.

The former LSU Tiger was at one point the top amateur win the world before turning professional and had those skills well on display in California. While in retrospect it seems like victory was inevitable for her, especially considering she bested Brooke Henderson’s 268 shot at Wilshire Country Club in 2021 for a new 72-hole tournament scoring record, but consider that prior to Sunday’s final round she had just an 11.8%-win probability per KPMG Performance Insights.

This is the perfect kind of momentum to carry into the first major of the season, but it will not be easy with the aforementioned Korda defending her title.

Bring on some more incredible golf.
