Celebrating the female form in all its glory, draping took center stage on the catwalk this spring season. Goddess-evoking, voluminous, Grecian-like creations ranged from spring mini dresses by Dries Van Noten, Stella McCartney, and Giambattista Valli to modern midis at Gucci and Bottega Veneta. Victoria Beckham‘s spring 2025 collection was a standout for its strong start of resin-dipped fabric that created a draping effect that molded to the models’ bodies, but the gorgeous green gown worn by Gigi Hadid on the runway skyrocketed to the top of our best spring dresses list for a unique, wearable version of the draping trend that loosely highlighted her figure with an acetate-blended fabric. Dries Van Noten — a label known for its mastery of mixing unexpected prints and textiles that teeter between the lines of what is conventionally pretty and what the mainstream shopper might deem questionable — showed a number of floral slip dresses in its spring 2025 collection, including a sparkling dress adorned with silver bead embellishment for much-appreciated glitz to put on The Ritz. Prada also put its own twist — quite literally — on a floral slip dress with a curved hemline and floating dress straps for a quirky style statement that can easily be worn any hour of the day.
