Shawn Johnson Talks Beam Supplement Powder Campaing WIth Her Kids

Shawn Johnson, the decorated Olympic medal-winning gymnast, is partnering with Beam Kids to highlight the benefits of the supplement powder with a distinct chocolate milk taste. The former athlete, entrepreneur and mom of three spoke with WWD about how the partnership with the brand happened and posed for a series of photos in the Beam Kids campaign with two of her three children.

Johnson and her husband Andrew East’s partnership with Beam Kids came to fruition after the couple struggled to find the best ways to ensure their children got the vitamins, probiotics and greens they needed. “Probably for six years I have been trying to create this [supplement] with different companies and tried to find the right partner and someone who had such high standards that I could trust with my kids, and it just kind of fell into our laps with Beam,” Johnson told WWD.

“It’s a phenomenal supplement company, and it just so happens the founder is my husband’s best friend in life (Matt Lombarid), and even in our house — he’s called Uncle Matt — so I trust him with our kids, and I selfishly had him create something for my children.” Once it was clear the product was a hit with her own children, Johnson was ready to take the supplement product for kids to the public.

“It truly was a labor of love for my kids,” she said. The powder “is flavored with nothing but monk fruit,” Johnson explained, adding, the choice “was a huge thing that I was very passionate about, and that they stayed true to. I was really impressed.”

For their target audience, Johnson was clear about the very niche group Beam Kids is trying to reach. “It’s a small little pocket we’re feeding into of parents who are interested in the supplement world for their kids,” she said.

“I feel that’s kind of a new category, that parents are kind of branching into filling those nutritional gaps for our kids. It’s hard,” Johnson said, adding that kids “aren’t getting all the stuff they need on a daily basis. I’m kind of building that confidence in parents that they can trust what we have made.”

Beam Kids All-in-One Superpowder was co-created by Johnson and features more than 40 essential ingredients, which support growth, immunity and focus. The product is pediatrician-approved and crafted with a chocolate flavor.
