Breaking Down the Family Tree

There will be plenty of familiar faces in the crowd, when President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in Monday at the U.S. Capitol for his second administration.

But the inner working and relations of Trump extended family can get a little thorny and may take some deciphering, so WWD created a cheat sheet to break down the family tree. The past and future president and his late wife Ivana had three children – Don Jr., 47, Ivanka, 43, and Eric, 41. Trump and his second wife Marla Maples have a daughter, Tiffany. And the 78-year-old politician and his current wife Melania have one son, Barron.

A telegenic personality and tough businesswoman in her own right, Ivana Trump never eschewed her married name even after the couple’s much-publicized divorce in 1992. In the 1993 feature film “The First Wives Club,” she famously declared “And remember…don’t get mad – get everything.” In 2022, Ivana Trump died at the age of 73, after a fall in her Upper East Side apartment.

Maples married Trump in 1993 after the birth of their daughter and the pair divorced in 1999. Some might know the 61-year-old Maples, a former model and actress, from her stint on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.”

Don. Jr. and his ex-wife Vanessa have five children, Kai, 17, Donald III, 15, Tristan, 13, Spencer, 12, and Chloe, 10. Donald Trump Jr.’s day job is executive vice president of the Trump Organization. Kai is a competitive high school golfer, who has verbally committed to playing at the University of Miami. With 952,000 followers on Instagram, the athlete has been showing off her swing there for a while. She also has 697,000 followers on her YouTube channel. Announcing her verbal commitment to the University of Miami on Instagram, Kai Trump thanked her parents, and her grandfather for giving her “access to great courses and tremendous support.” (That would be golf courses as in ones at Trump National Golf Club in Potomac Falls, VA., where the family had a reception and fireworks display Saturday night.)

Although the soon-to-be college athlete is not yet old enough to vote, she spoke at last summer’s Republican National Convention in Milwaukee wearing a Nordstrom dress. The teenager is also a fan of Ralph Lauren, considering a post last month of her wearing one of the designer’s American flag sweaters received 199,000 likes.

In addition to Vanessa Trump, a former model who is 47, Don’s Jr’s former fiancé Kimberly Guilfoyle will also be in the mix Monday. Last month, the time the couple nixed their wedding plans, Guilfoyle, a former Fox News personality, was appointed U.S. ambassador to Greece. (Other political watchers may recall from years ago that the 55-year-old was romantically linked to the Governor of California Gavin Newsom, during his time as mayor of San Francisco.) Guilfoyle and Eric Trump’s wife share a fondness for the Miami-based fashion designer Oscar Garcia-Lopez, who has created their custom gowns for Monday night’s Inaugural Balls.

Don Jr.’s current paramour Bettina Anderson, a former model and Palm Beach socialite, is reportedly expected to be on the inaugural scene Monday too.

Ivanka Trump, a Wharton grad and businesswoman, and her husband Jared Kushner, 44, are no longer part of the President-elect’s advisors, as they were during the first Trump administration. The Miami-based couple have three children – Arabella Rose, 13, Joseph, 11, and Theodore, who is eight. Kushner’s father Jared was tapped in November by the President-elect as ambassador to France. Fashion types know the Kushner name for nonpolitical reasons, Kushner’s investor brother Joshua, co-founder of Thrive Capital, is married to model and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss. Through their holding company Bedford Media, the enterprising duo announced last year they plan to revive Life magazine in print, digital and video streams through a deal with Dotdash Meredith.

Eric Trump acts as executive vice president of the Trump Organization. Lara Trump, a triathlete and former associate producer at “Inside Edition,” previously served as co-chair of the Republican National Convention. The 42-year-old North Carolina native gave up her Florida Senate bid last month. A few weeks back she took to a different stage – singing her rendition of Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down,” during the New Year’s Eve party at Mar-a-Lago. She and Eric have a seven-year-old son Eric and a five-year-old daughter Carolina.

Tiffany Trump, 31, an alum of Georgetown University’s Law School, is married to the businessman Michael Boulos. Last month, the incoming president named Boulos’ father Massad to be an advisor on Arab and Middle Eastern affairs.

Perhaps the passage of time since the first Trump administration is most measurable by the President-elect’s youngest son Barron. Now a student at New York University, the year-old is unmissable at 6’9.” But don’t look for the college freshman to be hanging around the White House any time soon. He still has the second semester of his first year to complete in Manhattan. Once described by his father as “a high aptitude child,” and photographed wearing a T-shirt imprinted with “The Expert” in 2017, Barron Trump has upped his look to custom suits that he personally chooses.
