Queen Letizia of Spain favored one of her go-to designers for a royal engagement at the Royal Palace in Madrid on Wednesday. The Spanish royal joined her husband, King Felipe VI of Spain, for the meeting of The Princess of Girona Foundation’s Patronage.
Queen Letizia wore the Poppy Print Knit Skirt in black courtesy of Carolina Herrera. The A-line, mid-length skirt featured a contrasting poppy print in a bright red hue, set against black fabric.
The royal coordinated the skirt with a red blouse, featuring long sleeves and a rounded neckline. The royal added a bold black belt to her waist for added silhouette definition. She also wore a pair of black boots with a very slight heel to complete the ensemble.
Queen Letizia wore the same skirt on separate occasions in 2019, 2020 and 2023. The skirt is a staple piece in her royal wardrobe. But the Spanish royal is also an admirer of more pieces by the Venezuelan American fashion designer.
Last September, Queen Letizia wore a fit-and-flare denim dress by Carolina Herrera for the 2024 Retina Eco Awards. She also wore a floral design by Herrera’s CH Carolina Herrera label for a city hall meeting in Barcelona last July.
The Carolina Herrera Poppy Skirt, however, clearly is a favorite of the Spanish royal.
Queen Letizia isn’t alone when it comes to royal rewears and repurposing previously worn apparel for public royal engagements. Kate Middleton has long demonstrated the best ways to rewear and repurpose designs in her wardrobe from Roland Mouret suits to Alexander McQueen coats and more. Queen Camilla also follows suit, often rewearing some of her favorite designs by Anna Valentine and Fiona Clare.
Last October, Meghan Markle repurposed her own Carolina Herrera gown — a red dress she previously wore to the Salute to Freedom Gala in 2021 and recycled for the 2024 Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Gala.
