Fort Worth, TX – Galaxy Unmanned Systems LLC has earned FAA certification for its first 55+ lb. unmanned airships, marking a ground-breaking achievement in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).

Galaxy’s journey back to the skies comes after a 17-year wait. In 2007, the FAA suspended commercial drone operations in the U.S. National Airspace System (NAS), halting Galaxy’s early advancements in unmanned airship technology. That decision left hundreds of pioneering companies, including Galaxy, in limbo.
“Momentum resumed in 2018 with regulatory updates, allowing exemptions for unmanned aircraft exceeding 55 pounds. Galaxy seized that opportunity, and after hundreds of tests, submitted its certification request in May 2024, said Tony White, Galaxy’s COO.
