PGA Tour shirt encapsulates what Scottie Scheffler is all about

When you watch Scottie Scheffler play, his footwork tells you that his swing and balance are all over the place.

Yet, he hits the ball on a rope and rarely misses the center of the club face. It seems impossible, but Scheffler is the best player in the world despite his feet saying otherwise.

He also took home his third straight Player of the Year honor this week, matching Tiger Woods as the only player to accomplish this feat. Nine wins, a Green Jacket, and a Gold Medal in Paris made it a no-brainer for Scheffler to win this award again, as 91% of the PGA Tour membership selected him as the Player of the Year.

His historic season featured many marquee moments, but one that sticks out is his Sunday charge at TPC Sawgrass, where he stormed back to win The Players by one. He shot a final round 64 that day, coming from five back to finish one stroke ahead of Brian Harman, Xander Schauffele, and Wyndham Clark. His victory also marked the first time a player won back-to-back Players titles.

But earlier that week, during the second round, Scheffler’s tee shot on the short par-4 12th made quite the rounds on social media.

Patrick McDonald of CBS Sports posted the below screenshot of Scheffler’s swing. Look at where his feet are. Then, look at the trajectory of the ball flight.

It’s stunning:

Josh Segal then quote-tweeted this screenshot, saying, “This should be the new logo of the Players if Scottie goes back-to-back.”

Scheffler did just that, leading Taylor Ryan, a talented member of the PGA Tour’s social media team, to create an updated Players Championship logo with the ‘Scheffler Shuffle.’

The tour then printed this new logo on T-shirts for sale at PGA Tour Superstores. The back of the shirt includes a list of Scheffler’s 2024 accolades.

Best of all, the proceeds from these shirts benefit the Behind Every Door organization, a Dallas-based charity that is very near and dear to Scheffler’s heart. Behind Every Door provides opportunities for underserved individuals to “reach their God-given potential” while helping to improve their lives.

Scheffler has tremendously strong faith. He and his caddy, Ted Scott, participate in a Bible study almost every week on tour, and his good friend Sam Burns is also a member of that group.

But this new shirt ties in all the tremendous attributes that make Scheffler the man he is. It truly encapsulates what he is all about.
