Elle Fanning added an edgy twist to the little black dress for the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards, presented by Variety on Thursday in Los Angeles. She was joined by high-profile stars like Pamela Anderson of “The Last Showgirl,” Kristen Wiig and more.
For the red carpet, Fanning chose a contemporary look from Dior. The dress featured a plunging V-neckline, backless silhouette, side cutouts and a full midi skirt. Adding edge, Fanning’s look included long leather sleeves extending into gloves and subtle gold buttons at the hips. She accessorized with a glittering string necklace and black pointed-toe heels.
For her glam, Fanning maintained her classic aesthetic. Her blond hair, styled by Jenda Alcorn, featured a subtle wave and side part. Her makeup, by Erin Ayanian Monroe, included bold brows, black eyeliner, rosy cheeks and a bold red lip. Fanning’s look was curated by stylist Samantha McMillen, who has also worked with Daisy Ridley, Brie Larson and Dakota Fanning, among others.
Fresh iterations on both a classic and little black dress were seen several times on the red carpet throughout 2024. Last September, Lily Collins favored an asymmetric spin on the style during her appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” The “Emily in Paris” star wore a LBD courtesy of Versace’s resort 2025 collection.
Halle Berry, Brooks Nader and Morgan Riddle have also given the little black dress an updated edge, utilizing sheer material, latex and more to give the wardrobe staple a contemporary edge.
The 2024 Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards Presented by Variety honored the behind-the-scenes artist who contributed to the year’s biggest films. Honorees included Julia Floch-Carbonel, Simon Livet and Romain Marietti — the hair and makeup team behind “Emilia Perez” — Joe Walker for editing of “Dune: Part Two” and more.
