Burberry Puts Clients, Stars, and Cafe Owners in Check-filled Holiday Campaign

FESTIVE MOOD: Burberry on Wednesday released its holiday campaign “Wrapped In Burberry” featuring friends of the house old and new, a day before the brand’s chief executive officer Joshua Schulman was due to lay out his turnaround strategy for the British luxury trenchcoat-maker.

Shot in London’s storied cultural neighborhood of Bloomsbury, the campaign features three sets of portraits that spotlight couples, friends and families.

Herschel and Lilly Stoller, seen carrying a dozen Burberry blue and white shopping bags with big smiles on their faces in one of the images, are clients of the brand whose relationship with Burberry has grown for more than 20 years.

In another shot, the couple from Nebraska posed next to a mountain of gifts wrapped in red checkered papers in the back of a car wearing the brand’s iconic check cardigan and jacket, respectively.

Depicting friendship, British actor David Tennant appeared alongside “Rivals” costar and real-life best mate Alex Hassell. They matched classic British tailoring and rainwear with red umbrellas and scarves.

On the family front, the brand dressed Nigerian-born, London-based artist Slawn, his partner Tallula Christie and their two children, Beau and Baby, in head-to-toe beige check ensembles. The couple also runs BeauBeaus, a community café in East London.

Coinciding with the festive campaign, Burberry is debuting a new virtual scarf try-on experience that encourages customers to virtually explore the brand’s signature cashmere check scarves and alpaca wool scarves featuring Burberry lettering in more than 50 colorways online, in-store, as well as via their own mobile devices.

Schulman said the virtual scarf try-on experience is “an exciting offering that speaks to our British heritage and digital innovation.”

“Recognized globally as a symbol of British luxury, our scarves have protected people from the weather for decades. With this new shopping experience, we are delighted to help our customers find the perfect Burberry scarf to keep them warm this festive season,” he added.
