EnforceAir System Set for Extensive Evaluation in Airport Environments under Cooperative Research Program
D-Fend Solutions has announced a new agreement with the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) to test its counter-drone technology, EnforceAir, across various government and commercial airport environments. The testing program, conducted under the Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA), aims to evaluate EnforceAir’s effectiveness in detecting, tracking, and identifying drones in real-time when airspace regulations are violated.
The joint effort will span several Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) testing locations. These include governmental airfields, commercial airports, and other facilities, depending on mutual agreement between D-Fend Solutions and NSWC PCD. Data collection and analysis will occur throughout the testing, with reports generated to assess EnforceAir’s capabilities in managing unauthorized drone activity.
Aiming to Enhance Airport Security
According to Zohar Halachmi, Chairman and CEO of D-Fend Solutions, the partnership with NSWC PCD offers “a pivotal opportunity” to advance counter-drone technology in “complex and challenging military and civil aviation environments.” Halachmi stated, “The expertise and rigorous standards of the NSWC PCD make them an exceptional partner, as we move to fulfill evolving airport security demands. Together, we will accelerate the evaluation and demonstration of our leading RF-Cyber C-UAS technology as we carry out the mission of protecting public safety and maintaining the continuity of essential operations.”
The testing will gather insights into EnforceAir’s performance in airport environments, where security demands continue to evolve alongside increasing drone usage. By focusing on this unique setting, the collaboration between D-Fend Solutions and NSWC PCD aims to validate how EnforceAir can contribute to the safe operation of airports, ensuring that critical airspace remains secure without interrupting normal airport functions.
Previous Airport Testing Experience
This recent agreement builds on D-Fend Solutions’ prior experience in airport C-UAS (Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System) programs. In 2023, the company participated in the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport UAS Detection and Mitigation Section 383 Research Program at Atlantic City International Airport (KACY) and Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR). This earlier involvement highlighted EnforceAir’s capabilities and effectiveness in mitigating drone threats within the constraints of busy airport environments.
About D-Fend Solutions and EnforceAir
D-Fend Solutions specializes in cyber-based counter-drone technology, enabling safe and controlled handling of rogue drones in sensitive areas, including military sites, airports, public spaces, and critical infrastructure. EnforceAir, the company’s primary solution, autonomously executes radio frequency (RF) cyber-takeovers of unauthorized drones, allowing for safe landings and controlled outcomes. The system has seen thousands of deployments worldwide, supporting operations across sectors where maintaining security and continuity are paramount.
With proven deployments by top-tier U.S. government agencies, D-Fend Solutions’ EnforceAir system focuses on mitigating the most dangerous drone threats in high-security environments. This testing program with NSWC PCD represents a step toward further integration of EnforceAir’s capabilities in addressing airport security needs and ensuring smooth operations across critical sites.
