Winnie Harlow in Wine Red PVC & Faux Fur Look at 2024 Earthshot Awards

Winnie Harlow put a glamorous spin on the monochromatic red carpet trend in one of the season’s hottest colors at the 2024 Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony in Cape Town, South Africa. She was joined by high-profile attendees such as Heidi Klum, Billy Porter and Prince William, among others, at Wednesday’s event.

For the red carpet occasion, the Cay Skin founder chose a monochrome, glossy burgundy brown long-sleeve dress. The outfit combined contrasting fabrics, featuring a PVC turtleneck bodice and a floor-length skirt made of softer fabric with exposed seam lines.

At Harlow’s hips was a faux fur wrap, complemented by gathered fabric held together by a glittering, crystalized band. The ensemble showcased the monochromatic trend’s versatility through the use of contrasting fabric.

For her glam, Harlow’s hair was styled into a voluminous look with playful baby bangs framing her face and cascading curls reaching her waist. Her makeup featured bold brows, striking eyes and a bold lip for an added pop of color.

The monochromatic trend has been a favorite on several red carpets throughout 2024. Jennifer Lopez recently embraced this trend at the Berlin premiere of her forthcoming film “Unstoppable,” wearing a white knit midi dress with a coordinating coat by Magda Butrym and white heels by Christian Louboutin.

Wine red, the red brown, burgundy hue sometimes referred to as bordeaux or merlot, has also become a staple on red carpets and celebrity events throughout fall 2024. Zendaya and Tom Holland made a rare public appearance in the trending color at the Bero Launch Party last October.

Prince William founded the Earthshot Prize initiative in 2020, with the first awards ceremony held in 2021. The endeavor supports scientists and researchers committed to reversing the impact of climate change through new technologies.
