Celine Dion made a shimmering arrival when she attended the 2024 City of Hope, Spirit of Life Gala on Thursday in Los Angeles. The event honored Jay Marciano, chairman and CEO of AEG Presents, who would go on to receive The Spirit of Life Award that evening. The organization brings together artists and leaders in the music, film and entertainment industries in support of City of Hope’s lifesaving mission to conquer cancer and diabetes.
Dion not only attended, but also presented the award to Marciano. While doing so, she made a strong fashion statement in a black Sportmax gown. The design featured an iridescent liquid shine finish, which added vivid detail. The silhouette was structured in two pieces, including a black form-fitting, sleeveless moment with subtle ruche detailing. The upper half was a delicate lattice mesh sleeve that featured subtle, sparkling detail throughout. Finally, the back of the dress featured an oversized bow in the same black iridescent material as the bodice.
The “My Heart Will Go On” singer accessorized with a pair of slingback Valentino Garavani black crystal-embellished pumps, which featured a lattice pattern over the front. For jewelry, she took a more simplistic route by wearing one black cuff and diamond drop earrings with an ear wrapping detail.
The evening would mark Dion’s first public appearance since her performance nearly three months ago at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Other notable attendees at the gala included magician David Blaine and Elton John, who performed “Your Song,” a rendition of “Tiny Dancer” and “Rocket Man.”
