A GROWTH: A Magazine Curated By on Thursday revealed it is branching out into consulting — and growing into a company called A Curated By Group.
Dubbed A Lab Curated By, the new entity will use advanced data intelligence to offer market and trend insights as well as advisory services. Its offices will be located in Paris, like those of the magazine.
Veteran investment banker, investor and entrepreneur Fatine Layt, currently “executive in residence” at U.S.-headquartered global investment and merchant bank LionTree, will serve as A Curated By Group’s president and the magazine’s publisher.
Embracing the convergence of domains ranging from fashion and beauty to art, entertainment, sport and gaming with technology is a way to ensure the next 20 years of the publishing brand, she said in a statement.
“With A Lab Curated By, we’ll continue to guide both brands and our audience, helping them navigate the complex and interconnected landscape of creative industries and consumer trends,” continued Layt.
Initiated in 2001 by Walter Van Beirendonck, the publication started its “Curated By” era in 2004, with a first edition with Maison Martin Margiela. It has since published 27 editions with signatures such as Alessandro Michele, Kim Jones and Glenn Martens as well as released special print projects with the likes of Gucci.
Julie Pont, who will serve as chief creative and business officer for A Curated By Group, is the former fashion and creative director at French data analysis firm Heuritech. In her opinion, the A Lab Curated By advisory branch “stands out in an industry where many advisers lack a true connection to the fashion world, focusing instead on business or data.”
Naming a deep appreciation of fashion and culture as the group’s strength, she said this specificity would allow for close collaborations with brands by “truly understanding their essence.”
Defining its approach as “fashion expertise first, with technology as an enabler — not the driver,” A Lab Curated By will be using available solutions in domains such as social media listening, consumer and retail intelligence, trend analysis and web analytics as well as a proprietary visual recognition technology it is developing and tailored data analysis methodologies.
As an inaugural event, A Lab Curated By will be analyzing the spring 2025 season through a webinar on Friday, accessible by inscription via its LinkedIn profile.
