Week 8 fantasy football rankings: Top 36 quarterbacks including injuries and sleepers

Welcome to Week 8 of the fantasy football season. The quarterback position isn’t putting up the fantasy numbers we often expect, but one quarterback continues to shine and his name is Lamar Jackson. Despite having already won two league MVP awards, the Ravens quarterback is playing the best he has in his career.

Jackson’s best game statistically came in Week 7 on Monday Night Football against the Buccaneers. He completed 17-of-22 passes for 281 yards and five touchdowns to zero interceptions. He also ran the ball nine times for 52 yards. This was his first QB1 finish of the season, but through seven games he hasn’t once finished outside the Top 12. The consistency is truly amazing.

Week 8 quarterback injuries

Deshaun Watson, Browns

Watson is done for the season with a ruptured Achilles. His replacement isn’t quite known at this point though. Dorian Thompson-Robinson was his backup, but hurt his finger and their emergency quarterback, James Winston, came in to finish out the game. Winston is the better quarterback, but we’ll just need to wait to find out what the plan is moving forward. If you roster any Browns players, you want Winston on that wall.

Jayden Daniels, Commanders

Daniels suffered a rib injury in Week 7 and could end up missing at least one game as he recovers. He could also end up playing in Week 8, but he likely wouldn’t be 100%. NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport said the team will be cautious with the rookie star quarterback, so we might not get that matchup between the No. 1 and 2 picks when the Commanders face the Bears in Week 8.

Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins

Tagovailoa appears ready to return from his brain injury this week as long as all goes well in practice. His return should also return the Dolphins offense to NFL caliber. It’s been an absolute mess with Skylar Thompson and Snoop Huntley in at quarterback, so we can expect Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert to once again be playable in fantasy as soon as he returns.

Aidan O’Connell, Raiders

O’Connel is headed to I.R. with a broken thumb. Gardner Minshew will take back over. This doesn’t change much for fantasy, as neither were playable, while both know they need to target Brock Bowers.

Will Levis, Titans

Levis is recovering from an AC-joint sprain and is considered week-to-week. Mason Rudolph stepped in for him in Week 7 and didn’t do enough to be considered an upgrade, but he would get another start this week if Levis can’t go.

Week 8 quarterback sleepers

Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins vs. Cardinals

We don’t know for sure if Tagovailoa is playing or not, but all signs point to that being the case. As long as he does play, he is set up well with a healthy group of receivers and receiving backs and a matchup against a Cardinals team that ranks 30th in EPA and 29th in DVOA against the pass. They will be champing at the bit to get the offense moving again.

Aaron Rodgers, Jets at Patriots

Rodgers already completed 27-of-35 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns against the Patriots in Week 3 and now he’s added Davante Adams to his offense. The Patriots rank 30th in DVOA and 29th in EPA against the pass as well. Rodgers isn’t the player he once was and we can’t expect huge numbers, but this matchup coupled with a plethora of good to great offensive skill players should get him over the top.
