Selena Gomez continued her press tour for her film “Emilia Pérez” on Thursday. The actress and Rare Beauty founder attended the photo call for the forthcoming film in London alongside her costars, Karla Sofía Gascón and Zoë Saldaña.
For the occasion, Gomez opted for a look courtesy of Schiaparelli. The “Only Murders in the Building” star wore a sleeveless, black slim-fitting dress with a round, slightly scooped neckline featuring a unique cutout element on the bodice.
Below the neckline of Gomez’s dress was a gold-outlined keyhole cutout. This design seemingly referenced a motif from Schiaparelli’s fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection, which included a similarly designed dress with a keyhole cutout on the bodice. The keyhole design became synonymous with Schiaparelli when the designer introduced the element in the 1935 fall collection with a padlock closure on a bag.
“It’s no longer about building visibility, it’s about building something that will take the buzz and convert it into brand equity,” creative director Daniel Roseberry said of the fall 2024 collection, which debuted as part of Paris Fashion Week last March, during a preview.
Roseberry’s fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection “offered a chic take on the Western trend with suits that featured a new high-waisted, low-crotch pant that pooled around the feet,” Joelle Diderich reported for WWD. “They came with cowboy boots inlaid with a molded ear covered with rhinestone piercings, and braids of hair worn as ties.”
Gomez’s look was curated by stylist Erin Walsh with hair by Renato Campora and makeup by artist Hung Vanngo.
Walsh has curated classic pieces from designers like Vera Wang, Rodarte and Anine Bing, while emphasizing standout accessories for Gomez during her “Emilia Pérez” press tour. Gomez, who often favors subdued elegance, usually incorporates statement accessories into her looks.
On Tuesday, she visited a New York City Sephora to celebrate the Make a Rare Impact campaign with Rare Beauty, opting for a statement belt by Khaite to enhance her ensemble.
“Emilia Pérez” follows lawyer Rita (Saldaña) who takes on a job to help a cartel boss (Gascón) disappear. The film hits Netflix Nov. 13.
