You never know what sort of rare, exotic cars you’ll see in Malibu on a Sunday, and this past weekend was no different. There were myriad Porsche 911s including a Singer Targa, a McLaren P1, an Alpine A110 and a one-of-330 Aston Martin V12 Vantage. But by far the rarest, coolest cars was this trio of blue Chevrolet Impalas.
Specifically, these Impalas are the eighth-generation model that was sold from 2000 to 2005. You never see these babies anymore, especially not here in Southern California! I’ve always loved the distinctive quad taillights, which make these Impalas easy to spot from a distance. There was a big crowd checking them out, the one in the center especially — not surprising, as it’s one of the high-performance Impala SS models that featured a supercharged 3.8-liter V6 making 240 horsepower.
Making this spot even better was the fact that the owners didn’t show up together, they just happened to all be in Malibu at the same time and were able to park as a group. Normally I’m not one who enjoys seeing multiple versions of the same car all together, but with cars as cool and as rare as these Impalas, I’ll make an exception. They really don’t make them like they used to anymore.
