Alfred Chang Is Stepping In As Everlane CEO

Alfred Chang is stepping in as chief executive officer of Everlane and will work alongside founder Michael Preysman, who is continuing as executive chairman and climate lead of the sustainability-minded brand.

He starts on Monday.

It’s a post that will let Chang tap into the full breadth of his résumé.

Most recently, he was CEO of Fear of God, where he spent about a year and a half streamlining operational processes, implementing merchandising initiatives and marketing strategies and more.

Before that, Chang logged 17 years at PacSun, rising to become co-CEO of the specialty retailer.

That gives him experience at both a growing fashion brand with an active founder — as was the case with Fear of God’s Jerry Lorenzo — and a mainstream player with an established retail business.

Preysman said Chang “has a proven track record in transforming brands by delivering incredible products and scalable growth. I’m confident that under his leadership, Everlane will continue to push boundaries in sustainable fashion and elevate our brand to new heights.”

The founder will continue to focus on the brand’s environmental agenda while also supporting the business as needed.

Chang said: “I could not be more excited about the opportunity to join Everlane, a brand that represents a modern and innovative approach to sustainable fashion. Everlane’s commitment to sustainability and transparent practices matter, and I’m eager to work alongside the talented team to further elevate the brand, our product offerings and industry leadership.”

He takes over the CEO role from Andrea O’Donnell, who became CEO of Everlane in 2021 and pushed the business to become more fashionable, but in January was tapped as brands president, executive vice president of footwear company Designer Brands Inc.
