Halsey Channels David Bowie at iHeartRadio Music Festival 2024

Halsey evoked David Bowie on the red carpet at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards in Las Vegas on Saturday. The singer sported an ice blue suit reminiscent of his custom Freddie Burretti look from the 1973 “Life on Mars” music video, directed by legendary photographer Mick Rock.

Halsey’s Stella McCartney ensemble consisted of an oversized blazer and matching pleated trousers, which she paired with a white button-up, a plaid tie and point-toe heels.

Stylist Lyn Alyson, who also counts Noah Cyrus and Avril Lavigne as clients, dressed the “Lucky” artist for the occasion.

Hairdresser Marty Harper styled Halsey’s bright red crop, while her makeup — also a nod to Bowie — included blue eyeshadow and rosy blush from her own makeup line, About-Face.

Halsey’s forthcoming fifth studio album, “The Great Impersonator,” fittingly features 1970s-inspired cover art. The decade also played a role in shaping the singer’s new music.

“18-year-old Ashley becomes Halsey in 2014,” she says a trailer for her new album. “What if I debuted in the early 2000s? The ’90s? The ’80s? The ’70s?”

In the music video for her single “Ego,” Halsey seemingly also channels Bowie, wearing a black suit and a spiky red hairstyle that evoked the rock star’s trademark mullet.

At the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this month, the singer donned an archival Versace gown on the red carpet. Her sheer leopard print frock, previously worn by Elizabeth Hurley in the ’90s, was sourced from vintage dealer Janet Mandell. A pair of Graziela drop earrings completed Halsey’s look.

In April, Halsey spoke about her makeup brand at WWD’s Los Angeles Beauty Forum. “I wanted it to feel like a reflection of my real name. Everyone knows me as Halsey, but my real name is Ashley Frangipane. After a decade of hiding that name behind something else, I wanted to bring it back to the forefront, and About-Face happened to have the same initials,” the singer said of her cosmetics company.
