The Postal Service to Go on Indefinite Hiatus After Final 2024 Concert

Last year, Benjamin Gibbard revived the Postal Service for co-headlining tour dates with his other major band, Death Cab for Cutie. After a ton of shows, across 2023 and 2024, Gibbard is once again putting the Postal Service on hiatus.

“As we bring the Transatlanticism / Give Up Tour to a close, I want you all to know that getting the opportunity to perform these two albums live has been one of the greatest thrills and honors of my entire life,” Gibbard said in a statement. “On behalf of Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service; Thank you so much for coming out and singing along. We will see you all again somewhere down the road.”

Prior to the anniversary shows, the Postal Service had not gone on tour since 2013. The lineup for the 2023 and 2024 concerts featured Gibbard, Jimmy Tamborello, and Jenny Lewis. The group’s final show takes place on Saturday, September 21, at HFStival in Washington, D.C.
