Tua Tagovailoa’s bad night gets worse with disastrous pick-6 against Bills

When it rains, it pours.

The Miami Dolphins found themselves on the wrong end of a 24-10 halftime score Thursday night against the visiting Buffalo Bills. Part of the problem for the Dolphins? A pair of first-half interceptions thrown by quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. While the first was certainly not his fault — a throw on the money to receiver Grant DuBose deflected off the receiver’s shoulder pads and into the waiting arms of a defender — the QB bore some blame for the second:

Still, Miami had a chance to get back into the game early in the third quarter, when their defense forced a Bills’ punt on the opening possession of the second half. With one touchdown, Miami would be right back into the contest.

Unfortunately, this happened:

Buffalo pass rusher A.J. Epenesa loops around the end, getting a free run at Tagovailoa on 3rd and 5. Under heavy pressure, the Miami quarterback tries to simply throw the ball away, but he cannot get enough on the throw for it to safely land out of bounds. Instead, the pass drifts into the hands of Bills’ cornerback Ja’Marcus Ingram who takes it 31 yards for the touchdown, giving the Bills a 31-10 lead.

Here is another look at the play:

Again, when it rains, it pours.
