2024 CFDA Fashion Award Nominees and Honorees Revealed

The Council of Fashion Designers of America has revealed the nominees and honorees for the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards presented by Amazon Fashion.

The awards ceremony and gala dinner will take place at the American Museum of Natural History in New York on Oct. 28.

The nominees for American Womenswear Designer of the Year are Rachel Scott for Diotima, Marc Jacobs, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler, Thom Browne, and Tory Burch.

The American Menswear Designer of the Year nominees are Mike Amiri for Amiri, Emily Adams Bode Aujla for Bode, Thom Browne, Todd Snyder, and Willy Chavarria.

For American Accessory Designer of the Year, the nominees are Ana Khouri, Stuart Vevers for Coach, Catherine Holstein for Khaite, Raul Lopez for Luar, and Tory Burch.

The nominees for the Shop With Google American Emerging Designer of the Year are Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell for Tanner Fletcher, Jackson Wiederhoeft for Wiederhoeft, Connor McKnight, Presley Oldham, and Henry Zankov for Zankov Ankov.

The CFDA Board of Directors will rename its namesake award to the Isabel Toledo Board of Directors’ Tribute to honor the late Cuban-American talent who died in 2019. Toledo will posthumously receive the newly renamed award, which will be accepted by Ruben Toledo, the designer’s husband. The award was originally established to recognize independent designers and to acknowledge individuals whose accomplishments reflect the board’s values. Past recipients include Virgil Abloh, Norma Kamali, Tom Ford, Michelle Obama, and Michael Bloomberg. The award will now exclusively focus on recognizing designers.

The International Designer of the Year will go to Daniel Roseberry for Schiaparelli.

The Positive Change Award goes to Michael Kors for his work fighting hunger through Watch Hunger Stop, his campaign in support of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), and his support of God’s Love We Deliver.

Stephen Burrows will receive the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. The Media Award in honor of Eugenia Sheppard will go to photographer Annie Leibovitz.

The recipient of the Founder’s Award in honor of Eleanor Lambert is Hamish Bowles.

“This year’s nominees and honorees represent the gamut of American fashion creativity and excellence,” said Steven Kolb, chief executive of the CFDA. “As our biggest fundraiser of the year, the CFDA Fashion Awards presented by Amazon Fashion significantly contributes the CFDA Scholarship Fund to support tomorrow’s generation of designers and future nominees and honorees of this special night and we are grateful to Amazon Fashion for their leadership.”

Jenny Freshwater, vice president of Amazon Fashion, Fitness and Creators, added, “Amazon Fashion is excite to celebrate the creative and brilliant designers and innovators that are impacting American fashion today. In addition to Amazon Fashion, which is the presenting partner of the CFDA Fashion Awards, are supporters Shop With Google for the American Emerging Designer of the Year Award, Häagen-Dazs, premium dessert partner, Hourglass, the official beauty sponsor, and WHP Global, supporter of the Student Viewing Section.

The 2023 winners were Catherine Holstein, designer and founder of Khaite, who was named the American Womenswear Designer of the Year. She won in 2022 as well. Willy Chavarria took home the American Menswear Designer of the Year, while Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen of The Row were again awarded the American Accessory Designer of the Year, racking up their fourth win in the category. The Shop With Google American Emerging Designer of the Year award went to designer Rachel Scott of Diotima.

Last year, Vera Wang won the Board of Directors’ tribute, and Maria Cornejo won the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. The International Award went to Jonathan Anderson for JW Anderson and Loewe.
