Scottie Scheffler won the Tour Championship by five shots last week, thus concluding the regular season on the PGA Tour.
But plenty of golf remains.
The remainder of the 2024 calendar year features plenty of marquee tournaments across the LPGA, DP World Tour, and LIV Golf.
Of course, the PGA Tour will stage eight more tournaments as part of its Fall series. Those players who did not finish among the top 50 in the 2024 FedEx Cup rankings will primarily compete in these events, jockeying for position going into 2025. Players ranked between 51st and 60th gain entry into the first two Signature Events of the season—a big deal for those on the periphery of stardom or young players looking to cement their careers further.
Then, we have the Presidents Cup, which returns to Royal Montreal Golf Club for the first time since 2007. Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and Collin Morikawa will lead the Americans, while the Internationals boast an impressive team of their own. Hideki Matsuyama, Sungjae Im, and Adam Scott will try to win their first Presidents Cup, as the Internationals have not defeated the Americans since 1998. Former U.S. Open champion Jim Furyk will captain the U.S. side, and 2003 Masters Champion Mike Weir, who hails from Canada, will lead the Internationals on his home soil.
We also have the Solheim Cup two weeks before the Presidents Cup, as some of the best female players return to Northern Virginia for this historic competition. Last year, Spaniard Carlota Ciganda helped lead Europe to a narrow victory over Team USA in AndalucÃa, so the Americans certainly have revenge on their minds. This year’s Solheim Cup will also be Lexi Thompson’s last. Thompson announced that she would retire from playing a full-time schedule at the end of this season.
