Players getting stuck in team hotel elevator is the most Chargers thing possible

If you had to guess which NFL team’s players just got stuck in their team hotel elevator, chances are you’d name the Los Angeles Chargers quite early. Well, you’d be correct.

As was announced by the team on Friday night, several people including players had to escape a stuck elevator in Dallas. They had to crawl through a ceiling panel one at a time to get to safety.

The Chargers shared a statement on social media to address the matter:

“At approximately 7:30 pm CT Friday evening, several players and members of the Chargers traveling party were stranded in an inoperable elevator at the team hotel,” the statement read. “Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the incident and subsequently assisted everyone from the elevator, one by one through its ceiling panel and into an adjacent elevator.”

Per a report from WFAA’s Matt Howerton, around 15 people were stuck in a so-called blind shaft somewhere between the third and fifteenth floors of the Chargers team hotel in downtown Dallas. After a technician was unsuccessful in getting the elevator going again, Dallas Fire Rescue deployed an Urban Search and Rescue team to get everybody out.

Players were stuck for two hours before getting rescued, according to ESPN’s Kris Rhim. Afterward, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh invited all DFR staff to dinner in the team meal room.

The Chargers will play the Dallas Cowboys in their preseason finale on Saturday. The game is scheduled to be kicked off at noon CT.
