Hope Walz embraced vibrant color and whimsical, maximalist prints on Thursday in Chicago at the 2024 Democratic National Convention. The daughter of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who on Wednesday accepted the nomination as Vice President under Kamala Harris on the Democratic ticket, chose Tanya Taylor’s “Meadow” dress.
The satin design featured a faux-wrap silhouette, gathered waist, puff sleeves and midi-length skirt. The hand-painted blue orchid floral prints shared the same hues as the rest of her family — who all coordinated in shades of blue.
Last year, Tayna Taylor celebrated the brand’s 10th anniversary and opened a Madison Avenue boutique in tandem with exploring expansion into other markets, with possible pop-ups and permanent locations “on our radar” in Florida, Texas and Canada, the brand previously told WWD.
The 23-year-old’s father Tim and brother Gus both opted for blue suits. Meanwhile, celebrity stylist Bailey Moon, who has worked with Diane Lane and Minnie Driver, dressed her mother Gwen Walz in Carolina Herrera for the DNC finale.
Feminine flairs have been a theme in Hope’s DNC looks. On Wednesday, she joined her family onstage wearing a lilac Self-Portrait midi dress that incorporated lace lilies.
The 2024 Democratic National Convention began on Monday and concluded on Thursday at United Center in Chicago. The program included speeches from former President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, President Joe Biden, New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Oprah Winfrey and more. Performers included Pink, John Legend, Mickey Guyton and Maren Morris, among others. Vice President Kamala Harris officially accepted her party’s nomination for President of the United States, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz accepted the nomination for Vice President of the United States.
