When Porsche was originally developing the first-generation Cayenne, the luxury SUV segment was still pretty new, so it wasn’t entirely clear what customers would expect from Porsche’s first entry. As a result, early Cayennes were much more off-road capable than you might expect, and the granddaddy of them all was the Cayenne S Transsyberia. Built to honor Porsche’s success in the Transsyberia Rally, only 285 were ever produced, and now there’s one for sale over on Bring a Trailer.

This particular 2010 Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia has 91,000 miles on it, so you know it isn’t some collector’s trophy that just sat in climate-controlled storage for the last 15 years. The current owner also acquired the car in 2021 and personally added 12,000 of those miles. That’s not a lot of miles to drive in three years, but for a car that’s one of 285, it’s pretty impressive. Especially because, while it doesn’t necessarily appear to be showroom-fresh, it looks much better than you might expect.

As many of the commenters pointed out, there is one downside to buying this specific Transsyberia — it doesn’t come with the optional and very desirable off-road technology package that added a locking rear differential, rock rails and better underbody protection. That’s a bummer, but at the same time, it’s still so rare, it may be worth bidding anyway. Besides, you can solve any problem if you throw enough money at it, so presumably, it would be possible to add the parts included in the off-road package after you win the auction.

As far as how much you’ll actually end up spending to win said auction, that remains to be seen. At the time of writing, bidding had only hit $3,957 with four days left. If the lack of enthusiasm over the last several days is any indication, you may end up owning a cool piece of Porsche history for less money than you might think.
