Before the turkey hits the table, I love putting out a few simple Thanksgiving appetizers to keep everyone happy and out of the kitchen. These are easy, make-ahead recipes that look great on the table and buy you a little extra time while the rest of dinner finishes up!

Before the Turkey Steals the Show…
I always love to start my Thanksgiving day with a few easy appetizers that set the tone for the whole meal. These recipes don’t take up oven space or fill everyone up before dinner, but they still feel special.
Most can be prepped ahead and served right when guests arrive, so you can finish cooking without the stress of hungry guests (kids!) hanging over your shoulder.
Tips for Easy Thanksgiving Appetizers
- It’s all about the timing: Have one or two appetizers that can be made completely ahead of time and served cold, and one that can be warmed right before guests arrive. I love small crockpots that I can keep dips or sauces warm in.
- Keep portions small. You just want to hold people over, not fill them up before the big meal. Bite-size is best.
- Serve in waves. Put out half the appetizers first and refill later. Everything stays fresh, and no one spoils their appetite.
- Use what you already have. Simple ingredients like crescent dough, cheese, and cranberry sauce can be turned into something delicious in minutes.
- Set up a snack spot. Keep one tray or platter in a separate area from the kitchen so guests can munch while you finish up dinner in peace.
