It was a little over a month ago when the United States Solheim Cup team announced that Paula Creamer would be joining Angela Stanford’s group in the Netherlands next year. Creamer officially became the second assistant captain next to Kristy McPherson.
As of Tuesday there is now officially a third. Major Champion Brittany Lang has entered the fold.
Welcome to the squad, Assistant Captain Brittany Lang!

Lang, the 2016 U.S. Women’s Open winner, played in a total of five Solheim Cup events herself: 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017. Stanford was a part of all of those teams with her save for 2017.
As noted the United States are defending Solheim Cup winners, but winning in enemy territory is a different matter and one that will require all of the help that the Americans can get. This is seemingly where Lang comes in.
“I am beyond honored and excited to be asked to be an assistant captain of the U.S. Solheim Cup Team in 2026. I’ve played a lot of Solheim Cups with Angela, Kristy and Paula, and I’m excited to work alongside them to lead the American Team to victory in the Netherlands next September.”
…
“This is probably one of the highest honors I’ve had in my career. I’m excited to learn, to help and to experience the atmosphere as an assistant captain.”
The groups that Lang, Stanford, McPherson and Creamer were a part of together were some of the most successful in Solheim Cup history from an American perspective.
Here’s to them channeling what made their teams great next year with the 2026 team.
